Cochin (Kerala) [India]May 2 (ANI): Actor-producer Vijay Babu accused of sexually assaulting a woman has resigned from the executive committee of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
The actor will remain on the sidelines of the organization’s executive committee until he is proven innocent in the sexual assault case to save the association from “disgrace”.
“Vijay Babu has sent a letter saying that he does not want to disgrace the organization of which he is a member of the executive committee amid the allegations against him. He would stay away from the executive committee for the time being until his innocence is established. His letter (request) was discussed by AMMA and it was approved,” reads the official AMMA statement issued by Secretary General Edavela Babu.
Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court on Friday refused to consider Vijay Babu’s early bail plea in the sexual assault case.
In the early bail plea, Vijay Babu alleged that the actor who filed the case against him was trying to blackmail him.

Earlier this week, Ernakulam South Police filed a complaint against Vijay Babu for sexual assault on the actor’s complaint. After that, the police also registered another complaint against him for disclosing the complainant’s identity via Facebook.
